Meet Dr. Kadzik

Paul Kadzik, DDS

Dr. Kadzik loves being a dentist and helping others. He gets great pleasure in seeing the children and grandchildren of some of his earliest patients and enjoys welcoming new patients into his dental family. He constantly strives to be the best at what he does and provides the best for his staff and his patients.

Dr. Kadzik is a highly regarded dental practitioner who prides himself on providing the most advanced dental procedures in a comfortable and modern facility. He is dedicated to constant improvement; both in his skills and knowledge as a dentist, and in his office environment and equipment. He enjoys listening to patients and using his many years of experience in finding solutions to individual dental problems. He has provided quality and unbiased advice and dental treatment to many families for over 30 years and is honored to have established long standing friendships with many of his patients.

Education, Experience, and a History of Service

Dr. Kadzik attended Wichita State University for his undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics in 1971. He completed his dental training at the University of Missouri at Kansas School of Dentistry in 1975 and graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

Dr. Kadzik started his dental practice in Gig Harbor after service in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis. He spent a total of 22 years of Active and Reserve duty in the service of our country. He enlisted in the Air Force after high school and was trained as a Weather Observer where he was stationed in Alaska and Kansas. Dr. Kadzik met his wife in Kansas and after his enlistment, remained in the Midwest, attending college on the G.I. Bill and dental school on an Army scholarship. His army career took him and his family to West Berlin, Germany where, among other dental duties, he was assigned for a time to be the dentist for Rudolf Hess, the last remaining Nazi war criminal incarcerated in Spandau Prison. Dr. Kadzik’s last station was Fort Lewis where he eventually switched to the Reserves and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.

In the Office

Dr. Kadzik considers his staff to be a large extended family and he tries to make his office environment a comfortable, lively, and happy place to work. Many staff members have been with him for over 15 years and enjoy the relationships they’ve built with the many patients and families they’ve met.

As Dr. Kadzik’s twin daughters were born in Germany during his tour of duty there, his family’s tourism focused mainly on kid-friendly activities, many of which centered on Germany’s many zoos. His daughters were attracted to the very colorful and whimsical 1970’s European Graphic Art posters available at each zoo. As collections often do, it grew quite large and a portion of it is on display in our office. Our zoo animal décor theme is enjoyed by patients of all ages.

Dr Kadzik is a very active member of the Gig Harbor community and has served on numerous committees for the Peninsula School District, his church, local service organizations, non-profits, and city government. In 2005,he was elected to serve on the City Council and is currently in his second term. As a City Council Member and as a Board Member of the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association, his particular interest is in preservation of the esthetic and historic character of Gig Harbor, as well as improving the waterfront experience of the harbor by encouraging park development and appropriate economic growth.

At Home

Having grown up on the East Coast and living in the Midwest, Alaska, and Europe, Dr. Kadzik and his wife, Jan, felt that there was no better place to put down roots than the Puget Sound area. They have lived in the Harbor since the early 1980’s raising twin daughters, establishing a dental practice, and lovingly and proudly restoring one of the landmark houses in the Historic Millville area of the city. Their daughter, Claire, and her husband are teachers and live with their two sons in Gig Harbor. Their daughter, Emily, is married to a career Army Officer and they and their daughter currently live in Tacoma.

Dr. Kadzik loves children. He was a “Room Father” when his daughters attended Purdy Elementary School and is now reliving the pleasure of the school volunteer experience with his grandsons at St. Nicholas School. He loves to teach and has developed a science lesson incorporating his large collection of animal skulls. He has presented his show-and-tell for over 25 years to well over a thousand third graders in a dozen area schools. His office has hosted numerous kindergarten class field trips for various local schools and Purdy Kindergarten has visited every year since 1981.

Dr Kadzik is an avid woodworker and remodeler. His historic home in the harbor is in a constant state of renovation. Over the years, he has also rejuvenated three houses for his daughters. When not working on projects such as those, his time is spent in the joy of being with his family and playing with his grandchildren.
